Our health & wellbeing is the most valuable gift in life and it is our duty never to never blindly hand over responsibility to someone else. It is perfectly acceptable to explore within safe limits, but as soon as you feel uncomfortable, or something doesn’t sit right, you must walk away. Gut instinct is a wondrous thing!
Within all walks of life, there are those who seek to exploit and prey on the vulnerable in society. Trust, credibility, accountability/responsibility is something I take seriously.
In my days as Deputy Editor for Natural Health & Wellbeing, we only worked with reliable and respected sources in an effort to demystify complementary therapies. It is an ethos I have carried with me.
At no point should anyone ever forego medical opinion and treatment. Complementary therapies should be approached in addition to convention treatments, not at the exclusion.
Lineage
I qualified as a Reiki Practitioner over 20 years ago while living in the UK. My Reiki Master was Peter Warnock who has gone on to more amazing work in service of the light. If you’re in the UK you can find him on Facebook or LinkedIn. Look him up, especially if you are into the whole Glastonbury scene. We can trace our Lineage right back to Dr Mikao Usui. I have moved back and forth between the UK and Australia and it’s worth noting the differences in regulation of Reiki in both hemispheres.
Australia
So, it is not a legal requirement in Australia to have a First Aid Certificate at this stage, though it is highly recommended, particularly if you would like practitioner membership status in a regulatory body such as Reiki Australia.
When I first started out in Reiki this was not a requirement, however, I think this is a positive move and shows a movement toward accepting Reiki as a legitimate aid in the healing scenario.
UK
As a qualified Reiki Practitioner, I was a member of the UK Reiki Federation. For those in the UK, here is some useful contact information.
The UK Reiki Federation is an independent group of individuals who have been attuned to Reiki, with the objective of providing support and guidance to Reiki Professionals and to the public, with particular reference to education and training, and the public practice of Reiki. On their website, you will find information for the public, for policymakers and researchers, and for members.
If you would like to contact the Reiki Federation, you can contact them at the address below:
